The Soloist and Poker

We decided to go see the Soloist which opened today. Its a new movie with Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx. Its based on a true story of a former Julliard student who becomes homeless. Without going into too much detail about the movie lets just say its worth seeing. Great acting by both Downey and Foxx and really opens up your eyes to why some of the homeless people are out there. Good to see Downey seems to have his well publicized problems under control and in this movie shows he can certainly act.

It was basically a day off poker for me except for about an hour of Omaha I played while sitting at Starbucks. After last nights exit from the tournament I needed a break from HE today.

I guess they are down to the final table of 6 at the WPT at the Belaggio. They are going to televise it so I guess in the weeks ahead one of the stations will pick it up. The chip leader is Yevgeniy Timoshenko with almost 2 to 1 chip lead over Christian Harder in second place.

I searched the library catalogue to see if I could find any books on Omaha but so far no luck. I have read most of books they carry on poker which is quite a few. Most of course either deal with HE or are biographies. Going to do some searching online tomorrow and see what I come up with.

  1. If the library has Super System 2, it has 2 or 3 chapters on Omaha variations. I've read them once (need to reread), and I found them to be pretty good.

  2. Thanks Memphis. I had read SS2 quite awhile ago and I forgot that there was a section on Omaha. Just put a request in for the copy they had today. Should get it in a couple weeks.
