I had no poker planned for this weekend as we had a non poker playing friend in from out of town. Its a long weekend here in Canada. Its called Victoria day. Not sure why we still call it that as why honor some dead queen from another country but for the working folks it's a paid day off so they can call it anything they want.
Downtown was swarming on Saturday night. We had 3 huge cruise ships in town and there was tourists everywhere. We actually went by the cruise ship terminal and as usual I was blown away by the size of the ships. Still haven't done a cruise but it's in the plans in the next couple years. As long as I can find one that deals poker during the cruise!!!
Watched the 3 hours of the semis and finals of the NBC Headsup Challenge. The match between Farha and Seed was a marathon with Huck I think realizing that Farha was a better after the flop player because I couldn't figure out why Huck was pushing with almost every hand (why else was he pushing). I wasn't impressed with his play in that match at all and I think Farha should have won. Huck just got really lucky in my opinion. I really came away impressed with Farha's play though. Very patient and he really wanted to play poker not just let a race decide it. I think he folded K10 suited twice and he might have been getting a little frustrated with Huck's all in or nothing plays.
In the other match I thought Rousso played well against Grospellier and actually it was a pretty even match. Nice to see her win. Grospellier is very aggressive and will play any two cards.
In the final Huck played so much better and basically had Rousso wondering what he had most of the time. She actually had Quad Aces and Quad 8's during the two matches but didn't get paid off too much when Huck made a great lay down on the quad Ace hand. He just basically had her number and she knew it at the end. She did incredible in beating the competition she did in her five previous matches.
